June is the one month on this page where we did not have to estimate prices: our summer hotel check was for Friday, June 11, 2027. It is also the month the ranking changes most. Every city here is warm and light late into the evening, so weather barely separates them, and price and the quality of the 24 hours do the work.
That puts Kraków first for the only time between January and June. Its June room was the cheapest we found, and its plan is among the strongest in Europe. Lisbon has the best weather again, Porto joins the list for the first time this year, and the expensive northern capitals fill the bottom half, where a central room can cost three times as much as in Kraków.

The ranking
Score = 40% this month’s weather + 60% the Snack Score, plus a market bonus in November and December for cities with a Christmas market. No more than 3 cities from one region. How we score
Kraków leads June because it does well on everything that counts this month. Its weather scores 8.9, with a 75°F (24°C) high and 12.1 hours of sun; its Snack Score, 8.5, is second only to Florence's in Europe; and its June room was the cheapest on this list, $77 (£58) in Kazimierz, barely above January's $61 (£46). One night costs $50 (£37) per person. Avoid Tuesday, June 1, when Schindler's Factory is closed, and Mondays, when Wawel's routes are. US nonstops are only from Chicago O'Hare and Newark.
Lisbon has the best June weather we measure, a perfect 10: a 77°F (25°C) high, 3.9 rain days and 13.3 hours of sun, the longest days on the list. It is second, by 0.04, because its Snack Score is 7.7. June is festival month, so Alfama's evenings are long and crowded; book the fado dinner. A Baixa-area room was $127 (£95) on June 11, 2027. Jerónimos is closed on Sunday, June 13 and on Mondays, so a Friday or Saturday morning in Belém is the safe slot.
Porto makes its first top ten of the year in June. Its weather score, 9.5, comes from a 71°F (22°C) high, 7.9 rain days and 12.9 hours of sun, and its worth-it verdict and compact 3.1-mile (5.0 km) route give a Snack Score of 7.9. The plan is built for June evenings: sunset from the Serra do Pilar terrace across the Dom Luís I Bridge, then dinner on the Gaia quay. Book Livraria Lello for 9 a.m., $17.90 (£13.40; €15.95). An Aliados room was $111 (£83) on June 11.
Venice is fourth with the warmest June on the list, a 79°F (26°C) high and 66°F (19°C) nights, for a weather score of 9.2. A worth-it verdict and a 2.5-mile route give a Snack Score of 8.0. June 11 to 13, 2027 are access-fee days for day-trippers, which is one more reason to stay: overnight guests have been exempt. A San Marco room was $168 (£126) on June 11, plus a tourist tax of $3.90 (£2.90; €3.50) per person. The Doge's Palace is open to 7 p.m.
London is fifth with a 71°F (21°C) high and 11.4 hours of sun, a weather score of 9.0, and a Snack Score of 8.0. June suits its plan: the walk from Westminster along the South Bank to Borough Market and Tate Modern, open to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and an evening in the West End. The cost is the issue. The cheapest qualifying Westminster room was $186 (£139) on June 11, 2027, and one night comes to $129 (£97) per person, the highest on this list once the airport ride both ways is added.
Prague is sixth with a 77°F (25°C) high and 12.5 hours of sun, a weather score of 8.8. Its Snack Score, 8.0, rests on one walkable line from the castle to the Old Town. June is its busiest month: the bridge fills from mid-morning, so start at the castle at 9 a.m. and cross Charles Bridge again after dark. The room is the June catch: $125 (£94) for a 4-star by the bridge on June 11, twice the January price. The trolleybus and metro from the airport cost $2.30 (£1.70; CZK 50).
Copenhagen has one of the best June weather scores here, 9.0: a mild 67°F (20°C) high and 12.9 hours of sun. Tivoli is in its summer season, and the metro from the airport takes 14 minutes. It is seventh because of cost: the cheapest qualifying room on June 11, 2027 was $269 (£202), in Vesterbro, the dearest on this list. The rest of the day is not expensive: a 24-hour City Pass is $15 (£11.20; DKK 100) and the Round Tower $9 (£6.70; DKK 60). Dinner is in Kødbyen.
Vienna is eighth on a hot June, a 78°F (26°C) high, with a weather score of 8.9. Its strength is price: a 4-star in Landstrasse was $78 (£58) on June 11, 2027, almost the same as in January and second cheapest here. Summer is when Schönbrunn's park is at its best, so give it time after the State Apartments, $34 (£25; €30). The Railjet from the airport takes 15 minutes; the City Airport Train runs only as a bus until October 31, 2027. The Kunsthistorisches Museum needs a booked slot.
Paris is ninth: a 75°F (24°C) high but 12.5 rain days give a weather score of 8.6, and its Snack Score is 7.8. June's long evenings suit it, with the Eiffel Tower sparkling on the hour until 1 a.m. in summer. A 10th arrondissement 3-star was $162 (£121) on June 11, 2027, plus the city tax of $6.20 (£4.60; €5.53) per adult. The Louvre, $36 (£27; €32) for non-EEA adults, is open to 9 p.m. on Fridays. Eurostar from St Pancras takes 136 minutes.
Amsterdam is tenth: a 69°F (21°C) high and 11.9 hours of sun, a weather score of 8.7, and a Snack Score of 7.5. Price sinks it. A Centrum room was $230 (£172) on June 11, 2027, and one night costs $116 (£87) per person. The Anne Frank House is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., but its tickets go on sale six weeks ahead, each Tuesday at 10 a.m., so a mid-June trip means booking in late April. The Rijksmuseum, $28 (£21; €25), is open daily.
June weather is scored from each city's 2016-2025 average high, rain days and sunshine (Open-Meteo). Full temperature marks go to highs between 63°F and 79°F (17°C and 26°C), so only Venice, the hottest city here, loses a fraction. That score is 40% of the June total and the Snack Score is 60%. The list allows three cities per region. All the details are in how we score cities.

Vienna and Kraków barely moved from January, while Copenhagen's room was more than two and a half times its January price. Paris and Venice add a city tax at the hotel that Kayak may not include. For the cheapest cities year round, see cheap city breaks in Europe.
What the long June evenings add
Summer hours give a one-night plan more room after 6 p.m. Lisbon's São Jorge Castle stays open to 9 p.m., so sunset from its walls fits before dinner. Porto's Clérigos Tower stays open to 11 p.m. in summer. The Doge's Palace in Venice closes at 7 p.m. from April to October, Prague Castle's buildings at 5 p.m., and in Paris the Eiffel Tower sparkles on the hour until 1 a.m. in summer. Tivoli in Copenhagen is in its summer season until September 26, 2027.
The flip side is crowds. Prague's bridge is full from mid-morning, and June is Lisbon's festival month, with long, busy evenings in Alfama. Start the ticketed stop at opening time and save the famous view for late evening.
June dates to plan around
Venice charges its access fee to day-trippers on June 11, 12 and 13, 2027, among 72 listed days between March 26 and August 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Overnight guests have been exempt; the city will publish the 2027 rules by December 31, 2026. In Lisbon, Jerónimos Monastery is closed on June 13, which is a Sunday in 2027, as well as every Monday. In Kraków, Schindler's Factory closes all day on the first Tuesday of the month, June 1, 2027.
If heat bothers you, note the highs: Venice 79°F (26°C), Vienna 78°F (26°C), and Lisbon and Prague 77°F (25°C). Copenhagen, at 67°F (20°C), and Amsterdam, at 69°F (21°C), are the coolest here. Lisbon is also the driest, with 3.9 rain days.
Who missed the June list
Florence scored 8.4, level with London in fifth, and Barcelona 8.3, but Lisbon, Porto and Venice take Southern Europe's three places. Rome scored 8.1. Budapest (7.88) lost to the same rule in Central Europe, behind Kraków, Prague and Vienna.
Below Amsterdam's 7.98, six cities tied or nearly tied: Stockholm and Bruges at 7.94, then York, Berlin, Bath and Madrid at 7.92. Edinburgh scored 7.82. The British options are compared on the best one-night city breaks in the UK.
Getting there in June
From London, Paris is 136 minutes by Eurostar and Amsterdam 244. Every other city except London has nonstops from at least one of Gatwick, Manchester, Edinburgh and Stansted, and all of them but Porto from Heathrow too. From the US, Lisbon, London, Paris, Amsterdam and Copenhagen have the widest choice of nonstops. Porto's are from JFK, Newark and Boston, Kraków's from Chicago O'Hare and Newark, and Prague's from JFK.
The rules at the border are the same as all year. The EU's Entry/Exit System has been live since April 10, 2026, with fingerprints and a photo at the first Schengen border, and summer queues can be long. ETIAS is still not running and has no date; the fee will be $22 (£16.80; €20). Americans need a UK ETA, $27 (£20), for London. Compare with the May ranking.
