About Trip Snacking

An independent guide that answers one question, what does one night in this city buy you, with plans and scores you can check.

Trip Snacking covers 24-hour city trips, one-night city breaks and long layovers for American and British travelers. It has a timed, priced plan for 45 cities in Europe, the UK and Ireland, the US, Canada and Asia, and for 15 layover hubs, plus 27 rankings and 5 guides. The name comes from the trend: trip snacking is Hotels.com's word for frequent one-night stays.

It is independent. It is not affiliated with Expedia, Hotels.com or any tourism board, government, airline, airport, hotel or tour operator, and none of them pays to appear on it or reviews what we write.

What makes it different

Each city page is one plan, not a list of ideas: stops in order with times, the airport ride with its fare and minutes, a hotel price for two fixed Fridays, and a verdict on whether one night is enough. Sixteen of our 45 cities get "one night, with a catch", because a guide where every city works in a day is a brochure. The rankings are computed and shown, not asserted. The method page gives every formula, so you can disagree with a weight and still use the numbers.

How the site earns money

Some pages link to tours and tickets on GetYourGuide and Viator. If you book through those links we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Commission never changes a plan, a verdict or a score. The affiliate disclosure has the detail.

The people who write the site are on the editorial team page, and the way we source is on editorial standards.
