There are no sponsored placements. No tourism board, hotel, airline, airport or tour operator pays to be featured, to be added to a plan or to move up a list.

Commission never changes a score. The rankings come from a formula whose inputs are the editors' sights, food and after-dark scores, the route length, the airport ride and the cost of one night, set out on how we score cities. No commission, booking count or product is one of them, and a city with no bookable products is scored exactly like one with dozens. Most stops in our plans are free or paid at the door, and the plans say so.

We do not print product prices next to the links, because both programs change them by date. The ratings shown are the ones each program displays, and our notes say what a product leaves out.
